Laborer-Shoveler – Asphalt Paving & Concrete Streetscapes

Position: Laborer – Shoveler
Reports to: Crew Lead or Foreman
We are a 20-year experienced asphalt paving company growing rapidly consistently. We are hiring additional team members for our Asphalt Paving Teams, and we have an immediate opening for three (3) Laborers. This position requires heavy physical duties involving a variety of tasks associated with asphalt milling, paving, concrete curb and gutter, sidewalks, driveways, etc. which are generally either semi-skilled or skilled in nature. Duties will vary depending on the type of work assigned to the crew.

The qualified candidate must be willing to travel locally within Atlanta, GA. Travel out of town is rare; however, it may be required on occasion.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Set up and maintenance of erosion control
  • Loading and unloading of materials
  • General clean up around job site
  • Checking and maintaining grade stakes
  • Set up and maintenance of all traffic control aids

Qualifications:

  • Construction experience is not required.
  • Knowledge of light equipment or paving equipment operation is a plus but not required
  • Ability to handle physical workload
  • Strong work ethic
  • Prefer valid DL but not mandatory. MUST have reliable transportation to work.
  • Willing to work out of town on occasion, although rare
The above listed duties require periods of standing, walking, stooping and bending. Also requires periodic lifting of up to 50 pounds. The job duties described herein are not exhaustive and may be supplemented. Work is performed primarily in an outdoor environment where employee is exposed to noise, dust, dirt, grease, machinery with moving parts, irritating chemicals and possible sustained periods in hot, cold or inclement weather. The work may require use of protective devices such as glove and safety jackets and/or vests. Must adhere to safety protocol, and work in a drug-free environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $26,000 ($14.00/hour, $500/week) – $35,100 ($16.87/hour, $675/week), before overtime.

Overtime hours are generally available and are payable at 1 1/2 normal rate.

Previous asphalt or transferrable construction experience will influence salary amount.
