Position: Distributor Technician I Tack Truck Driver
Reports to: Superintendent
We are a 20-year experienced asphalt paving company growing rapidly consistently. We are hiring additional team members for Motor Vehicles Team, and we have an immediate opening for anDistributor Technician I (Tack Trucker Operator) to join our team! The Distributor Technician II is a highly skilled position involving control and operation of the Asphalt Distributor. Crew member essential to the application of asphalt/tack on highway/roadways/parkinglots/driveways.
The qualified candidate must be willing to travel locally within Atlanta, GA. Travel out of town is rare; however, it may be required on occasion.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:
Must have four years’ experience operating an Asphalt Distributor Truck.
May oil, grease, service and make normal operating adjustments to equipment.
Possess a solid understanding of all aspects of the paving industry including preparatory work, grades, drainage, paving patterns, aggregate size, job specifications, oil consistencies, compaction and other details related to asphalt paving.
Sets spray bar on manual, automatic, or semi-automatic distributors for applying liquid asphalt.
Apply liquid from distributor to designated area with attention to detail and emphasis on craftsmanship.
Constant monitoring of temperature of oil and mix.
Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task.
Properly follow all company policies and OSHA regulations for safe working procedures and environment.
The operator is responsible for the efficient working condition of the equipment and is expected to perform minor servicing and maintenance or refer major problems to the supervisor.
May perform other related duties such as shovel work, setting string line, adding, or removing screed extensions.
As part of the Motor Vehicles Team, you may be cross-trained to:
Safely operate a tri-axle dump truck
Load, mobilize and unload paving equipment
Transport asphalt and/or millings
Properly track and document activity log
Report any issues or incidents to dispatch
Inspect truck before and after trip
Qualifications:
Must have the following CDL Class A with hazmat and tanker endorsement. Employee must meet the Preferred Materials Driver Qualification Standards.
Must pass DOT physical/drug screen.
Attitude/cooperation: always maintaining courteous and professional manner with co-workers, customers and public.
Physical ability to operate distributor and to perform manual labor as needed, such as shoveling or raking, under extreme temperatures and for extended hours of time. Normal shift is 8-12 hours.
Knowledge of all USDOT & FMCSA safety regulations.
