Asphalt Milling, Patching &
Resurfacing

The milling process consists of using a milling machine to scrape off the top layer of asphalt. Once the asphalt is scaped the exposed remaining asphalt is cleaned then adhesive is added and a new coat of asphalt is added on top.

This process is considered environmentally friendly because the scraped top layer is taken back to the asphalt plant and used to make new asphalt. Patching is the process of repairing small sections of pavement. Patching may be used to repair imperfections in pavement like potholes or for repairing the road after subsurface road work has taken place. Milling and resurfacing usually describes milling and resurfacing a roadway or larger section of pavement.

General Milling

General milling is the process described above where a milling machine is used to scape off the top layer of asphalt and the scraped materials ae reused in the production of new asphalt and other items. Sometimes a contract may consist of milling services only.

Patch Paving

Patch paving is paving sections of asphalt that has already been prepped for paving. The project may have been milled by another contractor and our scope of work consists of placing the tack or adhesive and placing and finishing the asphalt.

Permanent Paving

Permanent paving is used to discern it from temporary paving. Permanent paving requirements are much more stringent as to the specifications which includes thickness of asphalt, material requirements and the required subsurface prepping.
Temporary paving is less stringent because is thought of as a short-term solution that will be made permanent at a later date. These requirements may change from jurisdiction to jurisdiction.

Concrete is a vast industry which includes various disciplines. Roadway concrete consists of curbs, gutters, storm drains, manholes and concrete roads or subsurfaces.
Streetscape concrete consists of driveways, sidewalks, landscape areas and other streetscape areas like lighting footings and small landscape retainer walls.
